Maybe we can compromise here. Forget the compulsion to put a number to it (or expose an historically wrong number). Let’s agree at least to the undeniable fact that PERSONS were systematically and with extreme prejudice rounded up (all possessions becoming property of the government) to be worked to death on starvation rations, neglected into a diseased state to where eventually, many millions died. Ethnic cleansing at its finest. Suppose he criteria was “having green eyes” instead of being Hebrew. Would you care how many were executed then? Would you get this worked up about numbers? No, you’d be so inflamed and angered you’d just try to make sure it can’t happen again.

You’re point is well-made John. I looked at that slip of waterway, the chokepoint of entry into the canal, with Google Earth – its closure would be disastrous. When I researched this situation another issue came out, which I just posted about::: Out criminal ties with Israel, our continual though moronic support of Israel has caused more conflict with Iran than we’d normally have. Between these issues I hope you’re right about “calmer minds” prevailing, but it’s looking tenuous in that area.
