Clean Air Act Under Attack

Back in 2007 the Supreme Court initiated a Clean Air Act which, in reality, should be defined - since "cleaning the air" is neigh improbable, it's more a matter of prohibiting further pollution of our atmosphere, protecting its several layers like the ozone, tropo- and strato-spheres.  I don't envision any technical method in our present knowledge-base that could instruct people on how to clean air.  We can't ask planes to stop flying, but we can allow this atmosphere to re-invigorate itself, given time, just by ceasing the release of heavy pollutants.  Not limiting - ceasing.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-ARK) is moving to eliminate the Clean Air Act's ability to research and develop these measures.

Instead of embracing the process of resticting the main pollutors in this country, the Senator has proposed a measure which would essentially block any benefit this Act could do, allowing large power plants and factories off the hook.  Do you smell "lobbyist-based owed favors" anywhere?  It stinks.

She is using a little-known tactical maneuver called the Congressional Review Act, under which a "resolution of disapproval" can move very quickly to the Senate floor - perhaps in a matter of days - and requires only 51 votes to pass.

If enacted, this measure would permanently ban the Environmental Protection Agency from requiring the worst polluters to cut their toxic emmissions.  In the swirling myth of global warming caused by humans, rather than the natural progressive changes of the planet, this is the last thing we need if we're to see one of our aims - clean air for all - become an actuality.

The Clean Air Act might as well be re-named "Payback to Lobbyist and Special Interests Groups for Favors Received".  Still stinks.
